Crop Progress, Catch Up
Soil Moisture and Winter Wheat conditions are looking great. There is a slight shift from fair and good conditions to excellent. We have seen warm dry weather this week, farmers have been able to get out and plant. We are still behind our 5-year average, as this season has had an everything but an average start. We are slightly behind because it seemed winter held on an extra week or two in early April. I expect Montana to be caught up to average planting percentages in the next week or two. When the opportune window to plant is available, our state knows how to get seeds in the ground!
As you can see things have really grown in the last week. That dark green color indicates there is adequate nitrogen available to the plant. Photos were taken north of Highwood MT near Shonkin MT. If you are ever in that area stop by Lost Lake. Its spectacular!
