Promoting Montana wheat and barley overseas, the Wheat and Barley Committee uses producer
dollars to help foreign buyers source and utilize the grain they need. In cooperation with the Montana State University Cereal Quality lab and breeding programs, the Wheat Marketing Center, and Northern Crops Institute, the Committee demonstrates the unique quality and selling points of Montana's grain to the international market.

U.S. Grains Council barley production and quality information
BARLEY NOTE: The states of North Dakota, Idaho, Montana and Washington accounted for approximately 78 percent of U.S. barley production in 2005. However, quality data is not available from Montana, since most of the barley produced there is grown under contract and therefore very little is available on the open market.
